Dominican designer Raul Lopez’s edgy, androgynous designs reflect his own personal negotiation of identity, sexuality, family, and traditions. As a queer Latino from Brooklyn, he often shares how he used fashion as a creative outlet to help transform the trauma of being bullied as a child.
After taking a two-year hiatus, Lopez returned to last month’s NYFW with his LUAR label, featuring an elevated collection that aligned with his rediscovered and recollected self. The French crepe chestnut coat with clean lines and refined tailoring from his SS22 collection has already been spotted on Dua Lipa.
