My Mom Village: The OGs Share Their Mother’s Day Wish List

I asked the group chat, if money is no object, and if it is, what would be on your Mother’s Day wish list.

This Mother’s Day, the group chat is dreaming big, ranging from high-end luxury to the simple luxury of a few hours of peace. Based on the chat, here is a breakdown of what everyone is looking for, categorized by their “money is no object” dreams versus their realistic asks.

The “Dream Big” List (Money is No Object)

When money isn’t a factor, the moms are looking for major life upgrades, from real estate to global travel.  Remember, money is no object, think big, let’s let the imagination flow.

  • Brit: Round-trip first-class tickets to a country of her choice, a full kitchen and bath remodel, and a brand-new house.  That house, obviously, comes with someone to clean it and do the laundry.  And fold it and put it away.
  • Alissa: A custom-built Spanish-style house in Queens and a trip around the world.  You know, simple stuff.
  • Jess: A full farmhouse experience, complete with a mini donkey, fainting goats, Valais Blacknose sheep, a Shetland pony, a mini cow, fancy chickens, geese, and ducks. Also, a personal sauna and hot tub.  Jess’ happy place is a farm.
  • Tamara: A beach home getaway or a permanent retirement home on the shore. Tamara loves a shore weekend, and is looking to extend it forever.
  • Teesha: An off-the-grid beach house and a full Mommy Makeover, though she does not need one.
  • Jennifer: A trip to “anywhere with the bluest water” (so, sadly, not The Rockaways) and a stay in a private villa.
  • Me: I want a great two week vacation, hitting up some of my favorite places and some I have never seen before, with no access to my phone, email, or social media.  Zero internet.

The “Realistic” List (What We’d Actually Take)

These are the gifts that might actually fit under the tree, though some are still big wish items.

  • Teesha: A 3-hour uninterrupted gym session, a diner breakfast, and an ETF (Exchange Traded Fund) for her portfolio.
  • Brit: A small black Lady Dior bag in lambskin with gold hardware (or a limited edition saddle bag). Also, a very practical new tire to replace the one that just cost her $400.
  • Tamara: A full year’s worth of pampering (facials, nails, and massages).
  • Jess: A facelift and/or a trip to Malta.
  • Alissa: A pod sauna (after hearing me and Teesha rave about ours!).
  • Me: A girls weekend in Vegas to see the Backstreet Boys, taking the 6AM flight in, an early check in at Circa with two conjoining rooms so we can do Stadium Swim early, and dinner at Golden Steer.  Backstreet Boys night one.  Day two, sleep in and check out, late lunch at The Buffet at the Wynn, a great walk along the strip walking in and out of casinos, dinner at In n Out by the airport, and the 8PM flight home.  Vegas is my happy place.

The overarching theme is clear: Moms want time and transformation. Whether it’s transforming their homes, a makeover, or their environment, the consensus is a desire to step out of the daily grind and into a space that is exclusively ours.  And for me, a casino, too.
