The widely anticipated 2023 Barbie film just made history: it broke a box office record with the biggest opening weekend in history for a movie directed by a woman. Director Greta Gerwig’s instant blockbuster also marked 2023’s biggest movie of the year

And the accolades don’t stop there: Barbie’s leading Latina actress America Ferrera had a Barbie doll made in honor of Gloria, her character in the movie, marking the first Central American Barbie doll in Mattel’s history.

Without sharing any spoilers, people across social media made Ferrera go viral over a feminist speech her character gives during the film. To celebrate the Honduran-American icon’s major return to the big screen, here are six looks from Ferrera’s Barbiecore takeover.

Barely-There Pink

Ferrera pairs a subtle touch of pink on her lid and right above her crease with a soft brown on her outer lid and natural eyelashes. She finishes the look off with a very subtle dusty rose blush and a soft rose-colored lipstick to match.

Neutrals With A Pop Of Red

Standing next to her husband (who also makes an appearance in the movie), Ferrera wears a smokey-yet-subtle cat eye with a brown eyeshadow on her lower lash line and a deep red lipstick that has a blue undertone which makes her smile pop.

Monochromatic Pink

This glowy gradient of rose and pink mauve makes for an elegant Barbie look.

Smokey Smudge

Ferrera greeted over 20,000 fans in this bold smudged-out look featuring black eyeliner on her upper lash line and lower waterline which help bring out her brown eyes.

All About That Base

In her photoshoot for The Cut, Ferrera looks stunning in a minimalist look that accentuates her natural features with bronzer, highlighter on her cheekbones, nose, and the inner corner of her eye, and a pink lip liner topped with lip gloss.

Nothing But Brows

Ferrera rocks a super simple silver eyeshadow look with bronzer and a pale nude lipstick and lets her eyebrows do all the talking.
