Happy Black History Month! For the next 4 weeks (forever, really), we are celebrating the #ReflectBeauties that are changing the game– specifically, the daring founders of Black-owned beauty brands who are redefining the industry.
First up- the gorgeous, Mahisha Dellinger!
Mahisha is an entrepreneur, best selling author and television host. She is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of CURLS, a natural hair care brand founded in 2002 that has been a staple in my closet since its inception. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Mahisha for our series, 5 Minutes With!
On her morning routine
My morning routine is centered around the children– 3 of my 4 kids are still home, so they are the focus. Breakfast, packing lunches, doing hair (lots of curls) and dropping them off for school. But before I get out of the bed, I like to begin my day with a simple prayer – “Lord guide my steps, give me favor, bless me and my family.”
On her vision for CURLS and Black and Multicultural women going forward
My goal is simple, and goes beyond CURLS and beauty. My goal is to empower women to be the best they can be; the best women, wives, mothers, sisters, friends, girlfriends, entrepreneurs, and corporate citizens. Whatever, whomever they want to be.
I help women become successful entrepreneurs with my Black Girls Making Millions conferences and workshops. I give women more disposable income by partnering with CURLS to host CURLS parties (think Mary Kay). I help young girls get to and through success with my mentoring program, “CURLS Girls Rule the World.”
On a consistent hair regimen being the key to her gorgeous hair
I believe my hair care consistency, dedication coupled with the right diet, lifestyle and hair care products, CURLS of course, is the key to my healthy hair.
