TikTok’s viral latte makeup trend is the perfect way to achieve a bronzed glowy look that will make any skin tone appear sunkissed year-round. TikTok user Rachel Rigler coined the term “latte makeup” earlier this summer, garnering more than 2.5 million views and attention from Rhode Beauty’s Hailey Bieber.

The trend’s warm-toned look is characterized by a natural, barely there base paired with browns throughout the eyeshadow, eyeliner, lips and bronzer. Together, this look evokes thoughts of rich, chocolatey latte! To learn how anyone can pull off this look, we spoke with MAC Cosmetics Senior Artist Fatima Thomas to come up with the perfect latte makeup routine.
Minimal Coverage Foundation
Foundation is a really personal choice, Thomas notes, but the key is for your skin to look healthy and fresh. “At the very least, make sure your skin is nourished with the proper skincare,” Thomas says. You can go as minimal as just touching up with a little bit of concealer where you need it, or if you want just a little more coverage that looks like a second skin, one of Thomas’ favorite foundations is the MAC Studio Radiance Face and Body Radiant Sheer Foundation. If you want medium-to-full coverage, you can go for MAC’s Studio Fix Fluid foundation.

Brown Smokey Eyes With Pops of Gold
“The latte makeup trend is a great way to revisit your neutral eyeshadow palette, which is something that never goes out of style,” Thomas says. For deeper skin tones, Thomas references the Connect in Colour Eyeshadow Palette in Unfiltered Nudes and also points to eyeshadow single shades such as the reddish-orange shade “Embark” and the matte chestnut brown “Brown Script.” Add a touch of gold eyeshadow or highlight in the inner corners of your eyes and on your brow bone to complete the eye look.
Chocolatey Nude Lips
“Find colors that have a milky golden tan color for the lips, which make for a great nude for medium and deep complexions,” Thomas explains. Two pairing examples Thomas shares is the muted golden brown MAC lip pencil in “Cork” together with their clear Lipglass gloss or the “Chesnut” lip pencil with the “Bittersweet Me” Lipglass gloss.

Contour With Bronzer and Blush
To give the illusion of sun-kissed skin, try MAC’s Waterproof Skinfinish Sunstruck Matte Bronzer. According to Thomas, blush can also provide some warmth and depth to the latte makeup look.
“For those who want to add a healthy flush to this latte trend, use ‘Blunt’ as your contour and use a shade like ‘Coppertone’ as a flush on the apples of your cheeks,” Thomas says.
