At the 2023 VMAs, Selena Gomez shut down the pink carpet in her intricate, fully beaded Oscar de la Renta dress but the style moments didn’t stop there. Selena rocked a fiery red manicure by her personal celebrity nail artist Tom Bachik, who took to his Instagram to fully describe what went into creating the head-turning set for the star.

“We always start with the perfect mani and to do that I chose my favorite tools from my Tweezerman travel kit. Next, we wanted to add a little bit of length for this look because we needed to bring some attitude. I applied Apres Gel X tips in a medium length and then we shaped them into a tapered square.”
“Next, we went through probably 50 different reds trying to find the perfect one to match her gown and we chose PLA Nails Chai and Chai Again. Then, I applied a golden glaze shimmer to the top of the red to bring the fire because we needed nails that were hot! Lastly, we finished with PLA’s no wipe top coat to get the perfect high gloss shine.”
