Here are five Black women perfumers you need to know right now. Hint: Their fragrances make for some gorgeous gifts for the holidays!

Moodeaux

Former lifestyle journalist Brianna Arps became a student of scent after being laid off from her job in 2018. After rigorous research and formal training at The School for Aromatic Studies, Brianna launched Moodeaux in 2021. The clean brand uses science to bridge memory, emotion and scent. The brand quickly won numerous prestige awards in the beauty world for its industry-disrupting, unisex fragrances. Moodeaux is the first Black-owned fragrance brand to launch at clean beauty store, Credo. Brianna also created the philanthropic project, Black in Fragrance, to support other Black perfumers with entrepreneurial aspirations.
