There’s a double standard when it comes to wearing red lipstick. For some, a red lip is classy and empowering, but for Latina women it’s complicated. Once perceived as playing into the stereotype of being hypersexualized, women like Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez wear red lipstick as a way to take back their power. Other notable Latina celebs who loved a red lip include Celia Cruz, Selena Quintanilla, and Frida Kahlo.
