Nails are having their (well-deserved) moment. We love getting to express ourselves through our digits. From 3-D art to unique shapes and tropical color combinations, people are experimenting with their manicures like never before! Sometimes loud, other times low-key, there are few places where nail popularity is more evident than on social media.

From the hottest shades to the most creative styles, here are six of the hottest nail trends for spring and summer from a few of Instagram’s most talented manicurists across the country.

1. The Updated Neutral

Chrome sets like these have basically become a neutral and provide just the right amount of shine and sparkle to any shape or nail length. Celebrity manicurist Eri Ishizu of Los Angeles, who works with trendsetters like Latto, Issa Rae and Jennifer Lopez, designed these chrome stiletto beauties for Grammy award winning musician, Lizzo.

2. Retro Florals

Florals for Spring? How original. All jokes aside, floral designs on clothing, accessories, and even our nails during the spring months can seem quite cliché. Thank goodness manicurists like Morgan A. Dixon of M.A.D. Nails in New Orleans executes fun floral nail creations like these that are anything but trite. We’re not surprised though: Morgan was the mastermind manicurist behind the hit television show, Claws.

3. Elevated Nudes

Who says nudes have to be boring? Certainly not Manicured by Marie of Charlotte, NC, who created this fun set. The subtle addition of playful geometric nail art allows these universally flattering nude tips to go from a meeting in the boardroom to a party on the beach in no time. Briana also lends her creative talents to the eco-friendly salon @freecoatconcordmills where she’s a highly sought-after nail artist.

4. 3D Art

If you’re searching for nails that will become a certified conversation starter, 3D art is definitely the way to go. Haven, of the award-winning The Laq Lab in Brooklyn, incorporated these yummy sorbet hues with playful 3D art and the combination screams springtime.

5. Swirl Effects

How fun is this colorful set from nail artist Sigourney Nuñez of Los Angeles? Nuñez works with major retailers like Forever21 and is the first ever manicurist for beauty brand Pleasing by Harry Styles. Playful swirls of turquoise, baby blue, and fuchsia dance along fingertips in this design that’s begging to be rocked this season. These miniature works of art pair perfectly with an all-white or denim ‘fit.

6. The Updated French

French manis are a staple for a clean and timeless nail look but this twist on the tried-and-true fave is a gamechanger. Mini, nail stylist at The Nail Suite by Lisa Logan in Harlem—a fave salon of stylish actresses like Taraji P. Henson—incorporated a touch of sleek silver and an artistic design to make this French manicure ultra-modern and anything but typical. Mid-length, modern almond-shaped nails complete the sexy look.
