One word: Afros! Yes, people wore this hairstyle before Ms. Davis but she simultaneously made wearing one a revolutionary act and a fashion statement. She was unapologetic about it all, too. Much respect is due to this woman. The current commercial embracing of natural hair probably would not exist without her.
